Obverse description Central field bears four large Chinese ideograms arranged in a two-by-two grid, reading right to left and top to bottom, giving the reign title and denomination. Manchu script characters appear along the upper register, while additional Chinese ideograms occupying the lower register identify the issuing authority (Board of Revenue) and the face value of five fen. The inscription is presented in a clean, formal regular script style within a plain field, without a border of inner beading on this face.
