Obverse description Central field features four large Chinese characters arranged in a cruciform pattern reading 光緒元寶 (Guangxu Yuanbao), with a vertical column of Manchu script occupying the center between them. The surrounding legend reads KWANG-TUNG PROVINCE in Latin letters along the upper arc and 3.65 CANDAREENS along the lower arc, all contained within a beaded border. The design is struck in high relief with a clean, flat field typical of machine-milled provincial Chinese coinage of the late Qing dynasty.
