| Obverse description | The obverse is divided into two distinct fields by a vertical line. To the left, the Portuguese coat of arms appears in low relief against a plain field, surrounded by the circular legend 'REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA' and the date '2005' positioned at the base. To the right, a stylized architectural detail — the soaring gothic arch of the Monastery of Batalha — is rendered in fine linear engraving, evoking the monument's distinctive Manueline tracery.
