Issued as part of the Dutch "Vijfje" series, which has served as the Netherlands' primary silver commemorative denomination since the early 1990s. The 2019 aviation theme marked the centenary of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, founded in October 1919 — making it the oldest continuously operating airline in the world still flying under its original name.
