Obverse description Central numeral '5' within a circular frame, surrounded by a nine-pointed star motif whose segments each bear the heraldic shield of one of Austria's nine federal states, including the federal eagle of Vienna and the Tyrolean eagle among others. The composition is rendered in high relief against a polished field. The peripheral legend reads 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' along the upper arc and '· EURO ·' along the lower arc, conforming to the nonagonal outline of the flan.
