| Obverse description | Central field features a square cartouche containing the papal heraldic symbols of the Sede Vacante: the umbraculum (tasseled canopy) above crossed keys of Saint Peter, surmounting a papal coat of arms with a shield bearing the Apostolic Chamber's heraldry. The legend SEDE VACANTE is inscribed along the upper portion of the field, flanking the cartouche to the left and right, with the Roman numerals MMV appearing vertically at right. The motto CARITAS ET VERITAS appears on a ribbon-style banderole at the base of the cartouche. Designer signatures D. LONGO and MOMONI INC. are visible in the lower left field. |
