| 裏面の説明 | The copper-nickel centre displays a dense, convex arrangement of rounded polygonal cells or bubble forms filling the entire disc, their shared walls creating an organic, honeycomb-like texture suggestive of scientific and biological structures. The relief is bold, lending a three-dimensional quality to the abstract design. The brass outer ring carries the commemorative legend '100 VUOTTA TIEDE JA TUTKIMUS' (meaning '100 Years of Science and Research') distributed around the full circumference in evenly spaced capital letters. |

Finland's "Science" five euro was part of a recurring commemorative program the Mint of Finland used throughout the 2000s to highlight Finnish cultural and intellectual identity. The bimetallic format was chosen deliberately to distinguish these issues from standard circulation coinage — they were never intended as pocket change.
Mintage for the series was tightly controlled, and most examples reached collectors directly through the mint rather than through banking channels.
