Obverse description The obverse features a stylised nine-pointed star formed by interlocking triangular segments, each containing the heraldic emblem of one of Austria's nine federal provinces. The numeral '5' is prominently displayed in the central roundel of the star device. The circular legend 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' runs along the upper arc of the nonagonal coin, with '· EURO ·' inscribed along the lower arc, all rendered in raised Latin lettering against a dark field.
