Additional information

Sammallahdenmäki is a Bronze Age burial site on Finland's southwestern coast, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 — one of only six in Finland. The site contains over 30 granite cup-marked stones and cairns dating to roughly 1500–500 BC, making it among the best-preserved funerary landscapes of its type in northern Europe. Finland's commemorative euro program has consistently used bimetallic five-euro pieces to mark heritage designations, and this issue followed that pattern established in the early 2000s.
