Obverse description A stylised solar burst radiates from the centre of the field, with alternating pointed rays and flame-like streams extending to the coin's rim. At the centre, a crescent moon overlaid with a large ornate numeral '5' and the Euro symbol '€' is rendered in an elaborate baroque style. The denomination and state monogram 'RF' appear in the lower portion of the field, flanking the central motif, with the date '2026' to the left. Surrounding the solar design along the inner border are the twelve zodiac symbols, each rendered in relief at regular intervals.

Additional information

France's annual zodiac gold series has been running long enough that the Sagittarius installment arrives without ceremony. At half a gram of fine gold, these are among the smallest legal-tender gold coins produced by Monnaie de Paris, a format the mint has leaned on heavily since the mid-2010s to broaden accessibility in the bullion-gift market.
