| 正面描述 | The obverse features a stylised composition juxtaposing a rural Finnish countryside landscape with an open book whose pages reveal a built urban environment, symbolising the development of Finnish society. The design occupies the nickel-brass clad centre field and extends into the aluminium bronze outer ring. The encircling legend along the upper and lower periphery reads SUOMI FINLAND 2016, with the denomination 5 EURO and the engraver's initial L also inscribed in the field. |

Pehr Evind Svinhufvud served three separate stints at the top of Finnish government — as regent, prime minister, and finally president — a political career shaped almost entirely by crisis. His most consequential act came in January 1918, when, as head of the Senate, he declared Finnish independence and then immediately traveled to Berlin to secure German military intervention in the civil war that followed. The Germans obliged, and the White forces won.
He was 74 when elected president in 1931, defeating the incumbent amid rising far-right pressure from the Lapua Movement.
