| Beschrijving voorzijde | The centre of the coin, struck in nickel-brass clad nickel, depicts a stylised silhouette map of Finland occupying the majority of the inner disk, rendered in high relief against a dark field. The denomination '5 €' appears in bold lettering at the centre-left of the map. The aluminium bronze outer ring carries the legend 'SUOMI FINLAND' in the upper arc and the date '2018' in the lower left arc, with the mint mark of the Mint of Finland positioned at the lower right. The design was engraved by Erkki Vainio. |

Part of Finland's long-running regional series, this issue celebrates the Porvoo River Valley and the medieval Old Town — one of the best-preserved wooden urban environments in Scandinavia. Porvoo itself was granted town rights in 1346, making it Finland's second-oldest chartered town. The Diet of Porvoo in 1809, where Tsar Alexander I confirmed Finnish autonomy under Russian rule, remains one of the most consequential political assemblies in Finnish history, and the town has traded heavily on that significance ever since.
The Finnish regional €5 collector series began in 2011 and operates outside everyday circulation, issued at a premium directly by the Mint of Finland.
