Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a sweeping panoramic landscape of the Pallastunturi fells of Finnish Lapland, engraved in finely textured low relief across both the nickel centre and extending into the aluminium bronze ring. Gently undulating treeless hill summits recede into the distance under a wide open sky, evoking the austere grandeur of the sub-arctic terrain. The composition is horizontal and naturalistic in style, with subtle tonal variations achieved through varied surface texturing. The engraver's mark appears at the lower centre of the ring. No legends appear on the reverse field, with the inscriptions 'PALLASTUNTURI' and 'LAPLAND' present as identifying text.

Aanvullende informatie

Part of Finland's long-running "Nature's Moments" series, this coin was issued to mark Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, the third largest in Finland and one of the most visited. The park straddles a chain of ancient fells in Lapland formed by glacial action over tens of thousands of years. Finland's circulating commemorative 5 euro bimetallic program, which began in 2011, was designed explicitly to keep collectible themes in everyday commerce — an unusual policy commitment for a eurozone member that otherwise issues only standard euro coinage for general circulation.
