| 正面描述 | Central design features a large stylized bloom of the Paeonia parnassica rendered in fine relief, with broad petals and detailed stamens, accompanied by elongated leaves extending across the field. The Greek coat of arms, depicting a white cross on a blue shield within an olive wreath, appears in the lower left of the field. The denomination '5 ΕΥΡΩ' (5 EURO) is inscribed in the lower right. The legend 'ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ' (HELLENIC REPUBLIC) curves along the upper rim in Greek script. The overall design is executed in a naturalistic botanical style without applied color. |

Part of the Bank of Greece's ongoing native flora series, this issue commemorates Paeonia parnassica, a wild peony species endemic to the slopes of Mount Parnassus and a handful of other Peloponnesian sites. The species was only formally described by botanists in 1979, making it a relatively recent addition to the scientific record despite growing in a region humans have traversed for three millennia.
Billon at .333 fineness places this squarely in collector-issue territory — priced to sell as a themed series piece rather than circulate.
