| 表面の銘文 | LËTZEBUERG 1997 5 EURO le breton |
| 裏面の説明 | A large, detailed portrait bust of Michel Lentz facing slightly right dominates the right portion of the field, rendered with fine hair and beard detail; he is depicted wearing spectacles. To the left, an evocative background scene features a 19th-century steam locomotive in the lower left field and a Luxembourgish townscape with church spires in the upper left, evoking the era of Lentz's life. The inscription MICHEL 1820 / LENTZ 1893 is engraved in two lines along the lower rim, recording the poet's birth and death years. |

Michel Lentz wrote the lyrics to "Ons Hémécht" in 1859, the poem that became Luxembourg's national anthem. This coin was issued to mark the centenary of his death. Lentz died in 1893, which puts the commemorative a few years off a clean anniversary — the 1997 date aligns instead with a broader cultural program rather than a precise milestone.
