| Obverse description | The obverse, engraved by Erkki Vainio, features a detailed cartographic relief of Finland occupying the central nickel-brass disc, with the coastline, archipelago, and island of Åland rendered in fine detail against a plain field. The denomination '5 €' is inscribed to the left of the map within the centre. The outer aluminium bronze ring bears the bilingual legend 'SUOMI' to the left and 'FINLAND' to the right, with the date '2018' reading vertically on the left side. The Finnish Lion mintmark appears on the ring at the lower right, and the engraver's initial 'u' is visible at the bottom of the inner disc. |
