| Reverse description | Imposing frontal portrait of the head of the Maltese Ox (il-Gendus), rendered in deep ruthenium finish with finely detailed texture conveying the animal's powerful musculature and broad curved horns. The portrait is set against a gold-toned field richly decorated with swirling baroque scrollwork and wave motifs radiating outward from the central image. A Maltese cross appears in the upper field above the subject and a second Maltese cross is placed in the lower field beneath the portrait. The denomination '5 EURO' is inscribed in the lower right field. The scalloped silver outer rim echoes the design of the obverse. |
