Aanvullende informatie

Austria's "Lucky Leap" silver issue marks 2024 as a leap year — one of only three such commemorative programs the Austrian Mint has produced around the February 29 calendar anomaly. The Gregorian correction that created the leap year rule, formalized under Pope Gregory XIII's 1582 calendar reform, dropped ten days from October of that year and recalibrated the intercalary system that Julius Caesar's astronomers had imperfectly established in 46 BC.

The .925 fineness places this outside Austria's standard fine silver issues, suggesting a deliberate alloy choice for surface quality on a coin aimed squarely at the gift market.
