Largo Winch is a Belgian comics series created by writer Jean Van Hamme and artist Philippe Francq, first serialized in Spirou magazine from 1990. The Royal Belgian Mint has issued a series of numismatic pieces tied to Franco-Belgian bande dessinée — this falls within that program, which has previously honored Tintin, Lucky Luke, and the Smurfs. Belgium takes its comics heritage seriously enough to have UNESCO recognize the ninth art as part of its cultural identity.
