| Obverse description | The nonagonal obverse features the large numeral '5' at center within a star-shaped frame, surrounded by nine heraldic shields representing each of Austria's federal states, arranged in a pinwheel composition. The shields display the traditional arms of each province, rendered in fine relief against a recessed field. The circular legend 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' arcs along the upper periphery, while '5 · EURO ·' appears along the lower periphery, all in raised Latin lettering. The design, by Helmut Andexlinger, follows the standard common obverse format used for the Austrian nonagonal 5 Euro collector series. |
