| Obverse description | The obverse features a nonagonal geometric framework radiating from a central circle bearing the large numeral '5', dividing the field into nine segments each containing the heraldic shield of one of Austria's nine federal provinces. The shields are rendered in fine relief within their respective compartments, arranged symmetrically around the denomination. The circular legend 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' arcs along the upper rim, while '5 · EURO ·' is inscribed along the lower rim, both in raised Latin lettering following the nonagonal coin shape. |
