| 正面描述 | The obverse depicts the Complex of Sant'Agostino in Recanati, featuring the church facade, the cloister, and the bell tower — the latter immortalised in Giacomo Leopardi's poem 'Il Passero Solitario.' In the right foreground, the coat of arms of the Municipality of Recanati is shown, bearing a lion rampant in a composition attributed to Jacopo Sansovino. The legend 'REPUBBLICA ITALIANA 2016' arcs along the upper field, with the engraver's signature 'E. L. FRAPICCINI' positioned in the lower portion of the field. |

Recanati is inseparable from Giacomo Leopardi, the poet whose work defined Italian Romanticism and who spent most of his short, largely miserable life in that small Marche hill town. The Italian Treasury's "Italy of Arts" commemorative series, launched to highlight regional cultural heritage, chose Recanati partly for Leopardi's global literary standing and partly for the Museo Civico Villa Colloredo Mels, which houses one of the more significant collections of Lorenzo Lotto's work outside major metropolitan institutions.
The series was struck in limited collector quantities at the Rome mint under the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, with face value deliberately set below production cost — a pricing structure that renders these pieces non-circulating by economics rather than legal designation.
