背面描述 The reverse features a finely detailed, naturalistic depiction of a European otter (Lutra lutra) in the nordic gold centre, shown in a three-quarter upright stance resting on a bed of reeds and aquatic vegetation, its head raised alertly to the left. The silver outer ring carries an intricate geometric star-and-line decorative motif with small circular punctuation elements evenly spaced around the design. The legend 'LUTRA LUTRA' is inscribed along the upper arc of the silver ring in spaced capital letters. The denomination '5 EURO', with the euro symbol incorporated into the numeral, appears to the lower left of the otter in the gold centre field.

附加信息

Part of Luxembourg's ongoing nature conservation series, this issue coincides with the otter's gradual recolonization of Luxembourgish waterways after near-total eradication from the country during the twentieth century. The bimetallic format — nordic gold center in a sterling ring — was an unusual technical choice for a €5 denomination, adding production cost that most eurozone members reserve for higher face values.

Nordic gold is an aluminum-bronze alloy developed in the early 1990s and adopted for EU coinage largely because it resists counterfeiting and tarnishes slowly in circulation.
