Additional information

Germany's "Bimetallic with polymer ring" collector series — which this grasshopper issue belongs to — launched in 2016 with the blue planet Earth coin and has since become one of the Bundesbank's more commercially successful modern programs, largely because the colored polymer insert cannot be replicated by standard counterfeiting methods. Each animal-themed release is struck at all five German federal mints simultaneously, with mint marks A, D, F, G, and J all appearing across the production run. The grasshopper continues a run of native insect subjects that reflects lobbying from German conservation groups to use the series for raising ecological awareness.
