附加信息

On January 13, 1915, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Marsica region of Abruzzo at roughly 7:53 in the morning — when most of the population was still indoors. Avezzano was almost entirely destroyed within seconds. Of the town's 10,700 inhabitants, approximately 10,000 died. The death toll across the region reached nearly 30,000, making it one of the deadliest seismic events in Italian history.

This commemorative was issued on the centenary. The Marsica quake remains a reference point in Italian civil engineering history, directly informing later seismic construction codes.
