| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features the numeral '5' of the face value at centre, flanked and surrounded by the nine heraldic shields of the Austrian federal provinces, arranged in a circular composition across the nonagonal field. The encircling legend 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' appears along the upper periphery, with '5 · EURO ·' inscribed below the central numeral. The design consciously echoes the classic composition of the earlier Austrian 50 Schilling coinage, rendered by engraver Helmut Andexlinger. |

The hare is depicted in a naturalistic three-quarter pose, with meticulous attention to fur texture and anatomical precision faithful to Dürer's original. The monogram 'AD' and the date '2016' appear in the lower field, referencing both the artist's initials and the year of issue. |
