背面描述 A three-quarter facing portrait of Pope John Paul I is depicted in high relief at center, showing him wearing clerical vestments and glasses, conveying a serene and dignified expression characteristic of his brief pontificate. The denomination '5 EURO' appears to the right of the portrait in two lines. The legend 'CITTA DEL VATICANO' arcs across the upper field, while 'IOANNES PAVLVS I MCMXII MCMLXXVIII' runs along the lower left, referencing his birth and death years. The mint mark 'R' for the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato in Rome appears at the lower left, with the engravers' names incuse in the field.

附加信息

Albino Luciani was born in Forno di Canale (now Canale d'Agordo) on October 17, 1912, a fact that made the centenary of 2012 an occasion the Vatican could not let pass without a commemorative issue. His 33-day pontificate in 1978 remains the shortest of the twentieth century, and the circumstances of his death — found in his apartments with no autopsy initially performed — have fueled speculation ever since, none of it officially resolved.

The Vatican's commemorative silver program under Benedict XVI was tightly managed, with strictly limited mintages sold directly through the Governorate.
