| 附加信息 |
Part of the Royal Mint of Spain's long-running series celebrating UNESCO World Heritage Sites, this issue honors Ávila's medieval city walls — among the best-preserved in Europe, constructed from the late 11th century under Alfonso VI following the Christian reconquest of the region. The walls were built partly to defend a repopulated frontier town, not a thriving city, which explains the military severity of their design relative to contemporary fortifications elsewhere on the peninsula.
