Reverse description The reverse presents a bold sculptural composition of two forearms crossed at the wrists in an X formation, rendered in high relief at centre field, with the wrists bound together by a studded wristband — an iconic image associated with the Portuguese rock band Xutos & Pontapés. The legend CASA DA MOEDA – TÓ TRIPS runs along the left inner border in vertical orientation, while PORTUGAL 2024 appears vertically along the right inner border. A row of five-pointed stars is arranged along the lower inner border, and the design is framed by a beaded inner ring consistent with the obverse.

Additional information

Xutos & Pontapés, formed in Lisbon in 1978, became one of the defining bands of Portuguese rock — their rise inseparable from the cultural explosion that followed the Carnation Revolution and the end of nearly five decades of Estado Novo dictatorship. The band's longevity, spanning the death of founding vocalist Kalú in 2016, gave them a near-institutional status in Portuguese popular music that makes a commemorative issue of this kind unsurprising.

INCM has issued a broader series of coins honoring Portuguese musical figures; this piece belongs to that ongoing program.
