| Popis líce | The obverse features a richly decorated field with a background of wrought iron-inspired ornamentation characteristic of Molise craftsmanship. Two Devils are depicted in the foreground — one in traditional form and one in the guise of a young woman wielding a fan to tempt Saint Anthony the Abbot — representing the celebrated mask figures of the 'Mysteries' procession held on Corpus Domini in Campobasso. In the lower foreground, black and white truffles rest upon oak leaves alongside a caciocavallo cheese and clusters of Tintilia grapes, rendered in polychrome color. The legend MOLISE arcs across the upper field, with REPUBBLICA ITALIANA and the engraver's signature M. BONIFACIO appearing in the exergue. |
