The notes were never intended to pass through any monetary system; their value was purely mechanical, giving machine manufacturers and central bank technicians a standardized physical substrate to run against sensor arrays and rejection logic.
Siemens Nixdorf dissolved through merger in 1999, becoming Wincor Nixdorf. Test notes from this transitional period are consequently finite in number.
