| Obverse description | Central field bears the heraldic coat of arms of Cardinal Camerlengo Kevin Joseph Farrell, consisting of a shield charged with a rampant lion, surmounted by the traditional emblems of the Sede Vacante: the papal umbraculum (ombrellino) above two crossed Keys of Saint Peter bound with a cord, and flanked by elaborate cardinal tassels on both sides. A ribbon scroll beneath the shield bears the motto STATE IN FIDE. The legend SEDE VACANTE is inscribed along the upper border in Roman capitals, the Roman numeral date MMXXV appears at the bottom centre, and the engravers' names D.LONGO and S.CIUCCI INC. are incused in the lower corners of the field. |
