Reverse description The large numeral '5' dominates the left and centre of the field, with the denomination legend 'CENT' inscribed to its upper right. A finely detailed balance scale is depicted in the right-centre field, symbolising justice, set against a background of radiating diagonal lines. Twelve five-pointed stars are arranged around the lower border. The multilingual trial inscriptions 'PROVE PROV MUSTER' appear around the lower and left periphery, partially inverted in keeping with the medal alignment strike.

Additional information

Wales has never been a currency-issuing authority within the United Kingdom — monetary policy and coinage have always been reserved to the Crown and, in practice, the Royal Mint acting for the whole of Britain. A Welsh-attributed euro cent pattern from 2004 places it squarely in the political debate surrounding devolution and hypothetical Welsh independence rather than any actual monetary transition. The UK never joined the eurozone, making all such pieces purely speculative or promotional strikes with no legislative backing whatsoever.
