| Obverse description | The Finnish heraldic lion rampant, crowned and armoured, occupies the central field, brandishing a straight sword in its right forepaw and trampling a curved sabre beneath its left hind paw. The design, engraved by Heikki Aulis Häiväoja, is executed in fine relief with detailed mane and articulated limbs. A ring of twelve five-pointed stars, symbolising the European Union, encircles the central device along the periphery. The date appears in the lower left field beneath the lion. The mint mark 'M' is positioned to the right of the date. |
