| Additional information |
Struck to mark fifty years of Sobhuza II's reign, this issue commemorates what was by 1978 already the longest reign of any monarch in recorded history — a distinction he would hold until his death in 1982. The Monetary Authority of Swaziland, established only in 1974, was barely four years old when it produced this piece, making it among the earliest prestige issues from that institution.
