Obverse description Central design depicts a group of stylized figures with arms raised and joined, performing the traditional Catalan circle dance known as the Sardana, positioned above a representation of the Catalan flag's vertical stripes (the Senyera). Twelve five-pointed stars arranged in a semicircle border the lower portion of the field, evoking the European Community motif.
