| Obverse description | Panoramic view of the city of Nuremberg rendered in fine relief, with numerous church spires, towers, and civic buildings stretching across the field. Above the cityscape, rays of divine light emanate from the Eye of Providence set within a triangle amid clouds. The circular legend MONETA NOVA REIP NORIMBERG. surrounds the design, and the Roman numeral date MDCXCVI appears in an ornamental cartouche in the exergue below. The legend EXPECTATA REDI PAX surrounds the upper field, while SVPERVM AVREA PROLES arcs across the lower portion, together forming a salutation to the long-awaited Peace.
