An ornate quartered heraldic shield is superimposed on the eagle's breast, bearing the arms of the Habsburg hereditary lands. The surrounding Latin legend, divided by the date 1612 at upper left, reads ARCHID AVSTRI DVX BVRG MAR MOR, proclaiming Matthias as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Margrave of Moravia.
