Reverse description Central device comprising a large crowned imperial double-headed eagle displayed, with wings spread, each head surmounted by a separate crown beneath a larger imperial crown above. An ornate quartered heraldic shield is superimposed on the eagle's breast, bearing the arms of the Habsburg hereditary lands. The surrounding Latin legend, divided by the date 1612 at upper left, reads ARCHID AVSTRI DVX BVRG MAR MOR, proclaiming Matthias as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Margrave of Moravia. The composition is executed in the bold, decorative style typical of Prague mint multi-ducat issues of this period.
