Obverse description Half-length bust of Elector John George I facing right, attired in electoral robes and wearing the electoral hat, with a sword borne over his right shoulder. The elector's name is divided by the figure as the legend IOH - GEOR. Before him, a quartered heraldic shield bearing the four-fold arms of Saxony with a central escutcheon of the electoral Saxony arms, the shield flanking the date which is divided by the escutcheon. The surrounding legend reads VERBVM DOMINI MANET IN ÆTERNVM.
