| Obverse description | Armored half-length effigy of György Rákóczi I facing three-quarters to the right, wearing an ornate fur-trimmed crown and elaborately decorated plate armor with a ruff collar. The prince holds a scepter in his right hand and displays a document or scroll in his left. The portrait is rendered in fine relief characteristic of high-quality Transylvanian hammered gold coinage. The circular Latin legend surrounding the bust reads GEORG.RAKOCZI.D.G.P.TR.PAR.HVN.DOM.ET.SIC.COM., enclosed within a beaded inner border and a rope-pattern outer rim. |
