Georg III, Ludwig IV, and Christian ruled Liegnitz-Brieg jointly following the death of their father Georg Rudolf in 1653, a co-regency arrangement that was itself a political anomaly — the Habsburgs had spent decades pressuring Silesian dukes to consolidate or surrender their titles entirely. This triple-portrait multiple ducat was struck during those few years when all three brothers were simultaneously alive and ruling, a window that closed when Georg III died in 1664 and Ludwig IV in 1663, leaving Christian as sole duke until the line extinguished entirely in 1675, reverting the duchy to direct Habsburg control.
