Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Emperor Francis I (Franz I of Lorraine) in high relief, wearing ornate armor with elaborate lacework at the collar and a flowing periwig with heavily curled locks. The portrait is rendered in the Baroque court style, with fine detail in the chasing of the imperial robes. The mint engraver's initials AS appear at the bust truncation. The surrounding Latin legend reads FRANCISCUS D G ROM IMPERATOR S A, separated by pellets, running along the inner edge of a finely milled border.
