Obverse description Laureate and armored bust of Emperor Ferdinand II facing right, wearing an elaborate ruffled lace collar and richly decorated armor with a sash. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the facial features, beard, and imperial regalia. A small crowned imperial eagle appears to the right of the bust. The peripheral legend in Latin reads continuously around the coin, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titles, divided across the upper and lower fields.
