| Reverse description | Central device comprising the elaborate crowned quartered royal arms of Denmark, displaying in the upper-left quarter three passant lions with nine hearts (Denmark), upper-right a lion rampant (Norway), lower-left three passant lions (possibly Gothia or a related territory), and lower-right a wyvern or dragon passant. The escutcheon is surmounted by an open royal crown rendered in high relief. The surrounding Latin legend DUX SLESVICI HOLSATIAE STORMARIAE ET DITHMARSIAE COMES OLDENBURGI ET DELMENHORST encircles the field between two beaded borders, with a beaded inner circle framing the arms. The overall die-work is characteristic of the Copenhagen Mint's late Renaissance style. |
