Beschrijving voorzijde Draped bust of Empress Maria Theresa facing right, her hair elaborately dressed and falling in loose curls over her shoulders. The legend MARIA·THERESIA IMPERATRIX·GER. arcs around the periphery, with the dates 1717 and 1780 flanking the portrait in the field, denoting her birth and death years. The date 1957, indicating the year of issue, appears in the exergue below the bust. The portrait is rendered in a neoclassical style with fine detail, characteristic of mid-twentieth century medallic art.

Aanvullende informatie

Aureus Magnus was a private Swiss minting enterprise active in the 1950s that produced restrike and fantasy pieces marketed toward coin collectors and bullion buyers during a period when direct gold ownership was restricted or tightly controlled across much of Europe and North America. These pieces occupied an awkward category — too official-looking to be dismissed as medals, too lacking in sovereign authority to function as legal tender anywhere. The Maria Theresa branding borrowed cachet from the famously successful Habsburg restrike trade without any actual connection to the Austrian monetary tradition.

X#M36 is a fantasy issue with no historical monetary basis.
