Beschrijving voorzijde The national coat of arms of Liberia is depicted in the left portion of the rectangular field, featuring a shield with a sailing ship, a palm tree, and a rising sun, supported by a dove in flight above and a scroll below bearing the motto. To the right, the issuer name REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA is inscribed in large bold capital letters across three lines, with the denomination 5 DOLLARS displayed beneath in the lower right field. The motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE arcs along the upper border of the coat of arms, and REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA appears again on the scroll at the base of the arms.

Aanvullende informatie

Liberia has used coin programs almost exclusively as a revenue vehicle since the 1970s, licensing its name to foreign mints — primarily in Germany and China — to produce collector pieces with no domestic circulation whatsoever. This Tiger issue is part of that model, struck for the international bullion and novelty market timed to the 2010 Chinese lunar calendar.

The .999 fine silver content at 20g places it in a middle tier common to this licensing genre — heavier than a token, lighter than a standard one-ounce round.
