| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a boldly rendered high-relief depiction of an ox standing in profile to the left, its muscular form rendered in fine detail with clearly delineated hide texture and curved horns, commemorating the Chinese Lunar Year of the Ox. The animal stands upon a stylised ground line suggestive of ploughed earth. A small rectangular Chinese seal character device appears to the lower left of the field. The denomination $5 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower rim in two lines. A beaded border encircles the design. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Liberia's late-1990s commemorative program was a prolific commercial operation rather than a monetary one — these pieces were struck for the collector export market and saw no meaningful circulation within Liberia itself. The series was produced under contract by foreign mints during a period when the country was still recovering from the First Liberian Civil War, which had effectively collapsed the domestic economy between 1989 and 1996.
