| Obverse description | The central field features the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau within a ornate shield, depicting a seated Neptune-like figure holding a trident, accompanied by a mermaid to his right and an open treasure chest to his left, all set against a stylized sea. A traditional Palauan outrigger canoe with a paddler appears above the shield. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim, flanked by six stars distributed around the border, with the denomination 5$ inscribed at the bottom of the field.
