The 1992 issue falls within a wave of Bahamian commemoratives timed to the approach of the Wright Brothers' centennial — still eleven years out — and the concurrent Columbus quincentenary, both of which gave the Commonwealth's mint program sustained commercial momentum through the early 1990s. Franklin Mint handled production of much of this series, and collector demand was frankly soft; secondary market prices have never recovered to issue price for most pieces in the run.
